“Mastering the Media” is a bipartisan program. We take no sides other than the one we teach, and that is using the media properly to enhance one’s image. So while this may be taken by some as a partisan comment, it is anything but. In the wake of the Supreme Court decision regarding the legality of President Obama’s health care initiative, there were plenty of positive and negative comments on both sides. While this may not have been the words of President Obama himself, the fact it came from his approved Twitter account demands attention. Whether or not the President did approve this, it should never have been issued as it has his name on it and thus is seen in the public eye as receiving his approval. The language is vulgar to most, and leaves a PR stain on the Office and the President. Celebrating something that is decided in your favor is certainly allowed, but doing it in such a vulgar manner is not. My suggestion would be to never put this kind of a tweet out there. Celebrate, but don’t use this kind of language or inference. It’s in bad taste and certainly not in line with the Office of the President. Add to that the link included in the tweet goes to an Obama campaign approved web site selling a tee shirt with that phrase on it, and we have a double negative here. Makes no difference the political party involved or whom you follow, this has massive mistake written all over it.
You MUST oversee every comment from every media outlet that carries your name to insure it is not being used improperly and every comment reflects you, your company and your efforts in a positive light at all times.
